Dr. Brian Beatty

Dr. Brian Beatty, Professor of Instructional Technologies in the Department of Equity, Leadership Studies and Instructional Technologies at San Francisco State University. Brian’s primary areas of interest and research include social interaction in online learning, flipped classroom implementation, and developing instructional design theory for Hybrid-Flexible learning environments. At SF State, Dr. Beatty pioneered the development and evaluation of the HyFlex course design model for blended learning environments, implementing a “student-directed-hybrid” approach to better support student learning.

Dr. Jerusalem Rivera-Wilson

Dr. Jerusalem Rivera-Wilson, Director of Continuing Education and Professional Development for the School of Education and the Academy for the Advancement of Teaching, Leadership, and Schools in the School of Education, University at Albany

For over 30 years, Dr. Rivera-Wilson has been involved in some facet related to the profession of teaching. She joined the School of Education in 1996 and served as the Senior Faculty Associate and Director of Clinical Training and Field Experiences. In addition to the oversight of the clinical components for the Master of Science and Secondary Education and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages Programs, she taught undergraduate and graduate courses in educational psychology, assessment, secondary education. Her research interests include progressive education, pre-service and in-service professional development, higher education, and alternative assessment practices. Dr. Rivera-Wilson is very active at the state and national level in teacher education and professional development.

 

Dr. Jason Vickers

Dr. Jason Vickers is a full-time lecturer in the Department of Educational Theory and Practice at the University at Albany, SUNY. He received his PhD in curriculum and instruction from the University at Albany in Spring 2012.

In terms of research, he is interested in student self-assessment in online discussions, how this is perceived by students, and how this impacts subsequent discussion posts. He has also been long involved in research the Community of Inquiry framework for online learning. He has co-authored a book chapter on student social presence in online learning and authored a book chapter on student-student interaction in online learning.

Dr. Vickers has served on the department’s program committee and student committee. He currently chairs the department’s student committee.

Dr. Reza Behnagh

Reza Feyzi Behnagh is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Theory & Practice at the University at Albany, SUNY. He earned a PhD degree in Educational Psychology, Learning Sciences from McGill University, Canada (2014). His research focuses on how students self-regulate their learning in computer based learning environments and the underlying processes of academic procrastination and emotion regulation. His research is funded by the National Science Foundation. Reza teaches graduate courses in educational technology, research seminars, and media literacy.

Dr. Glori Hinck

Dr. Glori Hinck is a Senior Instructional Designer and Research Manager for the St. Thomas eLearning and Research Center (STELAR) at the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis/St. Paul. In this role, she helps drive educational innovation and supports faculty in the design and delivery of online and blended courses, including HyFlex. Dr. Hinck has over a decade of teaching experience in online, hybrid, and face-to-face environments as well as extensive experience in faculty development. She earned her MET and EdD in Educational Technology online through Boise State University and for her dissertation research studied quality assurance in online MBA programs. Dr. Hinck currently serves as an advisory board member for the HyFlex learning community and helps facilitate HyFlex workshops.

Dr. Cathy Littlefield

Cathy M. Littlefield, Ed.D., M.B.A., serves Peirce College in the capacity of Professor and Faculty Chair of the Business Division and joined Peirce College in 2012. As faculty Chair of the Business Division, Dr. Littlefield oversees the Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resource Management, and Organizational Leadership programs.

Dr. David Rhoads

Dr. David Rhoads is currently serving as the Director of Teaching Excellence and Digital Pedagogy at Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, California and has been teaching in the areas of leadership and educational technology for nearly a decade. David is passionate about helping faculty maximize face to face and online learning opportunities so their students can gain the most benefit from their instruction.

Dr. Gina Riley

Gina Riley, Ph.D. is a Clinical Professor and Program Leader of the Adolescent Special Education Program at CUNY – Hunter College. Dr. Riley has years of experience working with teens diagnosed with learning and behavioral disabilities. In addition, Dr. Riley has over 25 years of experience in online, hybrid, and HyFlex teaching and learning at the college/university level. She is known internationally for her work in the fields of homeschooling, unschooling, and self-directed, intrinsically motivated learning.

Dr. Jeanne Samuel

Dr. Jeanne Samuel is the Dean of their Global Online Division for Fletcher Technical Community College in Schriever, LA. Jeanne is very interested in game theory for learning and assessment for learning. As a lifelong techie, she has spent decades providing both technology support and teaching in the fields of technology and computing.

Support Team  

Karina Baranski

Karina Baranski graduated from The University at Albany in 2020 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development and minors in Business and Psychology. She is currently in the Curriculum Development and Instructional Technology master’s program and joined the ATTLAS team in June 2020 as an intern. She knew that the work they were doing was important and wanted to find ways to share it with as many teachers, parents, schools, and educators online. Karina works collaboratively with the team to assist with developing the RemoteEd and ATTLAS websites and curating educational resources to assist teachers with online learning. Karina’s background in working in public and special education helps bring a diverse perspective in her work as a creative director. She is proficient in using WordPress to keep the websites updated and design various RemoteEd and AATLAS event images. She aids the team with instructional design and technical support, while also managing all social media accounts.
